Rent a Cake… WHAT????

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Ok, I wasn’t quite sure how to feel about this at first, and then I presented it to one of my brides for next year who wanted the drama of the cake, but that wasn’t necessarily what they wanted to serve for dessert or even to spend so much money on a real cake and then serve a different dessert with it. SO, I brought this up to her, and she is just loving it! This just goes to show how different all my weddings can be, and I love the thought of this for several reasons. Especially if you have an outdoor wedding when it is going to be hot, hot, hot this could be an fabulous alternative!

So, enjoy the link and I would love to hear what you all think about this idea!!!

Hopefully I will get to post some new pictures of our weddings from the summer, and with 3 fabulous weddings to go in October, we will have lots to show you… especially the one we are doing next weekend where we are using a couple pedicabs to get the guests from the parking lot to the reception site if they don’t want to walk through the gardens that get you there… what fun!!! Well, maybe not to fun for the Peddlers…

Have a great weekend!!

One wow factor…

is all it takes, and something I like to create in the weddings I work on. I learned this from Preston Bailey when he came to speak at an event in Cincinnati. I was on the committee, and getting to meet him in person was such a great experience. We don’t all have budgets that he has to work with, obviously, but that is why he mentioned to focus on one element that will have your guests talking about it for some time to come. It is so fun to try and brainstorm with our clients and get a real vision of what they are dreaming about. Sometimes it just takes a little talking and reviewing other photos to dream up something wonderful together. Here is the link to Preston’s blog that I thought was right on topic www.prestonbailey.blogspot.com the tabletop garden entry. Hope you like it!

On Preston’s most recent blog entry he speaks of just this idea. Having one wonderful focal point can really make a difference, and a wonderful impact. So, if you don’t have a huge budget try to have one unique idea that really stands out and that will set your event apart!  Pictured below, one of my favorites from last year is we grew a special grass that we would use to hold the escort cards, which were made out of a natural paper cut into the shape of a leaf. The calligrapher did all the writing and we had an amazing centerpiece to set it off. The guests just loved picking their leaf and actually thought it was fun to be on a stick. Also, the foyer/entrance to the reception was made into a garden setting with specialty lighting and a lot of plants and flowers to finish off the look. So, no matter what your budget you can usually create a little something special! Enjoy, and happy planning!

Planning your dream wedding

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

If your wedding is in the calendar year of 2008, I am sure you are about to hit the ground running! If you are feeling a little overwhelmed, it may be a good idea to talk to a professional wedding planner. Most planners do offer hourly consultation which can be a real help in calming nerves.

I just had a mother of the bride come in to meet with me four days before the wedding and said I just want an hour or two of your time to make sure we have everything under control. This was for a destination wedding, so I am sure she was feeling the pressure. Sometimes that is all it takes to calm those nerves, she was so relieved when the meeting was over.

Planning a wedding is a very fun and exciting time, but yet it can be very overwhelming. We wish you all the best and happy planning!
